Sept 2026 Update Article (pdf)

If you spent time on Big Lake this summer, you likely noticed a significant improvement: the lake stayed clearer, and the severe toxic blue-green algae conditions experienced in past years were substantially reduced, allowing the lake to remain usable throughout the summer (see the 2025 vs 2026 comparison pictures ).
At the same time, this summer was not without challenges. We experienced some minor algae blooms, and the pause on lake-wide chemical weed treatment resulted in significant nuisance weed growth around many docks and swimming areas. We understand the frustration this created. The 'September 2026 Update Article' (above) explains what happened in 2026, why the treatment was targeted to specific areas, why lake-wide weed spraying was paused, what homeowners can do to manage shoreline weeds, and what we are planning for 2027.
